Mbuzeli or New as we fondly know him, ruled Lower Crossroads and supplied ammunition for gang activities and cash in transit heists. He spent many years in prison and was never outside for a full year since he was 15.
While he was still in prison in later years, New was mentored by Sibusiso his ex-offender friend who had also come through City Mission’s care and Discipleship process. He lived in our half way house and today 4 years later New has an “amazing grace” kind of story of absolute transforming power.
He completed his boiler making course and now has an 18-month internship in Polokwane that will allow him to do his trade test afterwards. He attends further part time classes at night. New persevered through very tough times as he transitioned into a new life as a Christian. He faced his transition struggles head on and with such courage and commitment.
What inspiring hope he now gives to others just starting out on such a change journey.
