Together We Create a Special World!

Welcome to the world of City Mission. City Mission, founded in Cape Town in 1902 is one of the oldest NPO’s in South Africa. Not many NPO’s can look back on a journey of 108 years. In the year that City Mission was founded, the Anglo Boer war had just ended and Cecil John Rhodes funeral procession lined Adderley Street! It was a time in our history where the impact of social and political upheaval changed the lives of families and households forever;

City Mission planted the truths of the Gospel into this fractured society, giving practical care and restoring spiritual hope and life that changed households for generations to come.

108 years on, we invite you to join hands with the City Mission as it intersects the lives of individuals, families and groups. Partner with us in any way you can as we go to the toughest of places to take people on a journey of engagement that will lead to transformed lives and families that will impact future generations. What great satisfaction will be yours as you share the joy of knowing that you had a part to play and that you made a difference. City Mission – changing lives and transforming generations since 1902.

Be blessed as you become our friend and partner.

Real Change

by Norman Parker- Board Member

The basis of real change in society is that of spiritual transformation. This is achieved by making disciples the way Jesus did. Social change without this foundation is not sustainable and can even degenerate into mere good works without responsible change.

We have learnt that society does indeed change through disciple making. We have been encouraged to rediscover this from the stories of transformational and self-replicating discipleship. This is not a new thing. It is what is being rediscovered in the world. We have received this knowledge through Scripture and therefore we have a responsibility- even a right – to pass what we know on to others. Discipleship is for the world and by confining it to church we have failed to truly serve the world.
